Having been a crazy lace fan from my first days as a rockhound, it's my opinion that much of the lace we're seeing on the market now is the junk from the old waste piles that's being salvaged and marketed. Man, when I first started going to quartzite, there were huge piles of fantastic lace going for 50 cents per pound and the main problem was finding hunks small enough to fit your saw. I wish I'd purchased several tons. A lot's changed in recent years since the advent of E-Bay....Mel

When I saw the large dark red/black areas on the boulder, I wondered if this would yield some of the sorta boring red laces slabs I have seen over the past year. Hopefully there will be some better spot as you cut deeper.
Some of the Malachite might make nice specimen slabs, but for cabbing there does not seem to be a lot of usable area.
If I remember, you got these two with the Amy Sage that did not show a lot of purple.
I know things can be hit-n-miss, but maybe give this vendor a pass next year.

Hmmm, Maybe you should send the vendor a few pictures and see if he will give you a good deal on some better stuff next time. Worth a try anyway. There may be some great areas in the malechite if you can get around all the pits and fractures. You just never can tell from the outside what you will end up with. A surprise in every rock. Fran

I have got some pretty nice Laguna Lace last September at the Denver show. I talked with one of the vendors and he assured me it was a new deposit located near the Crazy Lace deposit. I got some nice Laguna Lace and some Nuevo Aqua agate. These guys sell at the Electric Park in Tucson.
I have heard of people getting some Laguna Lace they weren't happy with. I know one guy in Kansas that bought a couple of 55 gallon barrels, cut a couple slabs the sent it back to whoever he bought it from. So there are some vendors peddling junk and calling it Laguna Lace. Probably getting it from the dumps of the original Crazy Lace agate deposit in Mexico.
