I got home from work tonight and smelled something very similar to something too warm.
I sniffed around the house and my snoot brought me to my tumbler.
So now I have it on the table unplugged getting cool and will hopefully be able to service it Saturday and get back on track.
Luckily a while back I bought new rods and pins (round cotter pins?)
But until then, I am dumping the two barrels tonight and take a look see what is going on and will post pictures probably Saturday morning before I fire the old girl up.
As always Julie

Not sure if you have a Thumler, or a Lorotone. One advantage of the Thumler is the electric motors are thermally protected. If they get hot due to a "barrel jam" they shut down until you tend to them.
This has happened to me a few times in the past year and the thermal protectuion has saved me from buying new electric motors. Hopefully, you will will rolling again soon.

My thumler actually just did this last night. I came out to check on it and the barrel wasn't turning. Motor was quite warm to the touch. I took it all apart and cleaned it up and re-oiled it. Here's to hoping it will work better now.

Well things ran alright for a couple days, but I just checked them this evening and it's sitting there stopped again. The motor is hot to the touch (I can touch it, but if I left my finger on it I'd get a good burn). I'm going to let it cool overnight and see if it will start up tomorrow, as trying to restart it unloaded resulted in the motor not turning. I have no idea how long it was sitting there not turning, as I hadn't checked it in 24 hours.
Just like last time when it stopped, I noticed this time also that my barrel almost felt wedged between the two rails. I'm running a thumler model T. I'm almost wondering if perhaps my barrel i getting wedged for some reason and that's what's jamming it up?
If so, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do about it? I'm planning on building a tumbler myself that I'll be able to drive several of these barrels on at the same time in the near future, but I don't want to be dead in the water until then.
