Whoa! Man you find some real oddball stuff beef. It does look like some kind of wood but I've never seen anything like it. Uncut end looks a little like some of the fern specimens out of Colorado but just slightly so. Sure is a cool specimen anyway....Mel

What ever it is it is really beautiful and the pattern in it reminds me of ferns.

Could be a limb cast. Exterior looks like wood.

I think it is a petrified biscuit! I would rule out fern since fern is so hard that I think you would have structure showing instaed of limb cast. It does however look like like a limb cast. Very interesting pattern. Woody

I have a really odd slab of palm wood. The pattern is completely odd on one end, normal on the other........most likely because some of the wood rotted prior to being petrified. Maybe something like that happened to this and thats why it looks different?
