Hi to all Would it be possible for you rock wrappers to photo the backs of a couple your wraps ?? It is so hard to tell what to do with 6 ends when 3 wires are being used. Do some of you use just 2 wires?? You all make it look so easy, though I know it's not. I am a fumble finger & need your help. Thanks Nancy

I think I will be posting some tomorrow and will try to get the backs for you. Normally on mine, there is only 2 wires to mess with in the back, and the rest are all up front. I also like to have a lot of wraps with nothing in the back at all, therefor I have to bring the back wires to the front and figure out what to do with them LOL .

Hi Nancy, I know it looks confusing but we use at least three wires. two of the six at top are used for the bail and then you have four that you can swirl and curl to your hearts content or not, some stones just call for a lot of foo foo. the end of the bail wire you can cut and tuck to hide or curl smooth at the back.Acouple of pictues to help explain, hope this helps Donna

I use anywhere from 2-5 wires, though mostly 2 or 3. The thicker the stone, the more wire that is needed to make it not look silly. I have done one 1-wire wrap (not a groove) and think it turned out great but don't plan on trying it too much as there is too much planning involved for my taste. I do it the same way as Donna, use 2 in back from the bail and use the rest for design in front. I also curl up my bail wires in back just like Donna shows. I make my wraps one-sided so my wire work in back is not fancy at all... form-over-function in front and function-over-form in back. If you want to go the expert route, look at some wraps from Chris Perez and see what he does on the backs of his

Nancy, going forward, when I post my wraps, I'll include a back pic for you and I'm sure other wrappers will also.

Thanks Randy & Donna & everyone else, the photos really help. but still one more question. So you actually use 2 of the 6 wires to wrap the bail ? Nancy

I know techniques can vary so don't take mine as THE way, especially since I'm a novice still. The way I do it...
Imagine all 6 unbound wires shooting straight up off the rock. I take the back 2, stick a dowel or cheapie ball-point pen behind and bend those 2 wires backwards over it to lay flat against the wires coming up. Basically you'll now have 4 wires sticking straight up and a loop in back, made by the back 2 wires.
Then I bind all of those together with half-round wire down near the rock and you now have a nice bound set of wires.
I then take the extensions of the 2 bail wires and curl them up sideways on the back, like Donna shows. That leaves the 4 front wires to shape and curl or just cut and hide any way you please.
I will post a step by step of my method when I wrap the next one. Being that I have family here, it won't be for a bit so I'm sure it will be late but it will be something at least.

I do mine exactly like Larry, except that I use the front two wires as the bail, bending them backward, splitting the other 4. Then I bind the entire enchilada with 21 gauge half-round (half hard) wire and do my swirls and curls with the 4 wires.

Just let me know if you ever want any other angles of any of my wraps..... I try to show everything most of the time. Larry, I'm no expert .... just playing with wire like the rest of you.... And Lori (sitnwrap ), I can't wait to see the back of your wraps.... I can never quite figure yours out completely.....
