I finally did it! ;D These aren't much to look at, compared to the beauties you all post, but I'm no longer a WF virgin! Of course I forgot to take pics before I cut them. I have no idea what these rocks are. I picked them up at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. Didn't find any diamonds and I didn't go home empty handed. 1. Outside showed a lot of promise. And I wasn't disappointed! I love the yellowish bits. 2. The lines on the outside looked interesting. But the inside was a dud. The red part is soft, like rust. 3. I liked the colors on the outside of this one. Was totally blown away by the inside! Hope I didn't bore you too much. I promise to take better pics next time. Later, jeri

Thanks gang. It was a lot of fun! ;D I can't wait to set up a permanent place for working on rocks. I do everything (cutting, grinding, tumbler) in the kitchen. I have to 'waste' time getting stuff out and cleaning up afterwards. My oldest should be moving out in a couple of months, so maybe I can claim some of his space for rocks. BTW, the cut rocks are in the tumbler. I'll try to remember to take pics at each stage. You've been warned! LOL Later, jeri

Great first cuts! I laugh at the first slabs I cut up. They are all so thick and take a lot of grinding to work them down to a good size. As you keep on cutting slabs, they will get better and better as your confidence with the saw increases. You are off to a wonderful start and when the weather warms up and you can be outside with your saw, well, that is just perfect! Fran

Congratulations! Great cuts. It's like discovering fire, you'll always wonder how you did without it. Now you can shape, round off, remove pits, saw through cracks, etc.. Rock on!

Oh the joy, the fun of cutting that first rock. You are so hooked now there is no turning back. Its in your blood now. I have resorted here lately to cutting up some small creek rocks and you would be surpised at what you may find. Cutting rocks is great stress relief also lol. I tend to get lost in my own world when I am cutting rocks.
