It is jasper with agate in the vug. I collected this from Montana City which is about 5 miles south of Helena.

It is not fire agate but it is referred to as plume agate or plume jasper with agate. There is no fire visible in the agate as far as I can tell.
It would be even better if there was fire in it but oh well, can't have everything...lol.

I live where this is. I go by there (road cut) and pick up chunks all the time. It has been harder to find as of late. I want to make some jewelry with it. The red is neat but interspersed.

It was in Montana City but the area I knew about was bulldozed for a parking area. Don't know what it is now. That was about 8 years ago.
I used to live in Helena.
