I see that therockshed sells a mixed batch of rocks that includes agates, sodalite, quartz and jaspers mixed together. I thought you had to keep the same hardness of rock separated so a harder rock would not scratch the other. So my question is can I put sodalite and jaspers together in the rough grind? I have been doing them separate and still need to run another rough grind on both types.

I have made that mistake - putting sodalite in with almost ANYTHING else. The sodalite almost always gets beat to smithereens by the harder stuff, even by stuff that's supposed to be equal MOH's. I would advise to always do sodalite by itself, with lots of cushioning - plastic beads or ceramics if in a rotary, ceramics if in a vibe.
YMMV

I run a lot of Sodalite. It's my favorite stone. Running it in the rough stage with the others is fine (it shapes up pretty quick) but when you move on to finer grits run it by it's self. If I add anything else, even softer stuff it does not get that mirror shine. I have found it does need a good burnish after the polish to be at it's best I have never been able to get a good shine on spotted sodalite. Hope this helps.
