From a non-wrapper - just smooth out the long swoops and you're there. I'm sure those in the know will have more helpful tips. Great job and beautiful stones too.

Nice job. Maybe curl the Mook ends up and bunch them near the bail binding (like a bouquet of flowers). If you practice your hand movements enough to get them consistent, that will help your binding technique. Whenever I pause in making a binding, I get an inconsistency that is easy to detect. You are well on your way, keep up the great work! Jo

They look pretty darn good to me. Can't believe you started out using silver and not some practice wire. Gutsy!!

They look great for a first attempt! Hope mine will be as good when I am get some wire and stones. Couple questions.... someone said smooth out the long wires.... how do you keep the wires smooth? Also, is it my perspective or would those size stones look better with a thicker gauge wire ??
Thanks! I'll bet you already have a few more to post... <ggg> Phil

Good job! The stones look like they're held securely and the wires form a nice pattern. You took "a risk" by leaving the wires flowing around the stones "in mid air" instead of snugging them up tight. I like the designs! Susan

Thank you all for the suggestions and the nice comments. I know I have a long way to go before I get even close to the wrappers on the forum but I am trying to catch up llana2go, not gutsy, that is what Sheri started me with so I used what I had. She was nice enough to give me some wire to start me out and it was silver. I don't know what to use to practice but would like to find something that would be similar to silver to use for practice. If I could get some square and half round copper it might be better than using up the good silver but maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree as far as practice material. Any suggestions? Have any of you used a tool to make the curls? I saw a tool somewhere that made curls (not round nosed pliers or a "thing-a-ma-jig"). Also was wondering how you all straighten out the wire. It comes coiled up and I am having a heck of a time straightening it so I can work with it - I am working with dead soft wire so it shouldn't be so hard to straighten. Thanks for all the help.

I think they look fantastic. Way to go drocknut! I'm afraid to try the swirlies - I know what they'll look like, and I can't say it because this is a family show LOL.

Ah! You got a good teacher and kudos to Sheri for starting you in with the "good stuff". I started with silver and would not have done it any other way and honestly, I don't feel that even as you practice, you are wasting anything. You can always scrap silver for money or credit. You can't scrap the other stuff.
There is one trick that I learned while making curved shapes with the wire, use the end of your finger on the end of the wire you want to curve and bring down from the bail and as you bend the wire down, at the same time, use light pressure with the end of your finger on the end of the wire. The pressure on the end of your finger along with the pressure of bringing it down will make the wire bend gently and it will curve naturally.
All that being said, BIG CONGRATS. Keep at it, you are doing great.

The main part of your wraps are very symmetric, you've definitely got the knack for doing this. Keep wrapping and keep posting pics! You'll be surprised at how good you'll get fast. Great job!!

Thank you all both for the encouragement and the tips. I'll check out the sites mentioned.
Nate, come on, join the swirly club...lol. If I can do it so can you... or as the commercials say "so easy a caveman can do it" LOL
Roger, I just got a jewelry cleaning cloth yesterday so your tip is going to be put to use for sure. Thanks.
sitnwrap, I'll have to try the "finger technique", sounds like it would be easier on the wire. Sheri told me about sending the wire in for credit so that does help for sure. Do they take wire you bought at another store?
Thanks again to everyone for the encouragement and tips. I really appreciate them all. I will try to post more pics of my wraps soon. I already have another one done but can't seem to get a good pic of it. Happy wrapping to you all. Diane

Rio Grande will take anything that is 925 sterling. I have a bag that I'll be sending out to them pretty soon and in it I have a broken bracelet (sterling, but store bought), and some other stuff that is sterling. Just make sure no other metals gets mixed in with your scrap.
