i found a highland park saw for sale the descriptions reads
"I HAVE A HIGHLAND PARK MFG. CO LAPIDARY SAW USED FOR CUTTING SLABS, CABS, OR GEODES. COMES WITH A 14" DIAMOND BLADE, AND SEVERAL OTHER BLADES, POLISHINGAND GRINDING WHEELS. PLUS SOME COMPOUNDS. MODEL M3 w/a ROCKWELL 1/3 HP MOTOR AND MOUNTED ON A WOODEN BENCH. ACTUALLY COULD USE A GOOD CLEANING. FROM A LARGE ESTATE AUCTION.
I REALLY DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS ITEM. I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT, BUT I AM RUNNING OUT OF ROOM, AS I SEEM TO COVET EVERYTHING I BUY!
I WILL THROW IN A BOX OF ROCKS THAT CAME WITH IT. LOT'S OF AGATE, ETC. ""
sound like a good deal for $350?

You can not really beat the quality of Highland Park equipment. If all it needs is a good cleaning the $350 would be a good deal. The M-3 was sold as a 12"-14" saw, and had a lucite hood. The addition of more blades is a bonus if they still have life left in them. Offer less of course and see what you a haggle out. The vise opens to 5 1/2" with 4" of lateral movement. The arbor is a full one inch through the bearings and 5/8" for the saw blade. Woody

It may not be there next Friday. That price is about $100 low. The misc grinding wheels are just junk, but the slab grabber is worth about $35. The blade is worth at least $50 if it has half its life left.
I would jump on this.

Yeah $350 is a heck of a deal. Highland park was about the best machines made years ago. The only bad thing is parts are pretty limited for these saws - so if it breaks down some parts are readily available and others might have to be machined. Either way I'd go 4 it.
Just make sure the blade is fairly straight and not bent to heck. Also you'll need to check the alignment of the vise to the blade. Fairly simple fix. But just like a used car look it over good ;D
Good score!

i don't know if you can make it work but the lortones use a piece of thin chain you can adjust so when the carriage gos so far it pulls the switch to the off position -- the lortone switch's have a hole drilled in them to hook the chain to -- mine went bad so i put a toggle switch in it and the chain hooks right to it and works fine

Highland Park saws came with a cutoff switch mounted on the front. They modified a push button switch by attaching a wire inside the switch. The wire went through a hole in the front of the saw box, and had a chain attached to the vise carriage. I would take a shot of mine, but I have been busy cuting, and the oil needs changing so it is a mess. Maybe some one has a clean saw they can post photographs of. The wire once broke off from my switch, and I can tell you that is a bugger of a job to put a wire in that switch. Diamond Pacific may have some of these switches. Give them a call. Woody
