WOW.... now that my brain is the consistency of porridge.... I'm amazed at the number of people here that are really into this with big projects! TONS of information. I guess my intentions are to just do some lame rock tumbling. I see that you can buy packs of raw, un-tumbled stones. I've looked at some of the craft stores before and found most of what comes in their bags are hunks of junk I could've easily plucked from my driveway. What I'm searching for is colorful and unique "stuff" to make it worthwhile. My kids have always been interested in the bright, colorful stones you see at the science stores. Those places charge you your first born and an arm or leg per piece. Especially the healing semi precious stones. Which is what I'm looking for. I have this fear of spending hard earned money to be disappointed with driveway quality results! What would be helpful is suggestions of reputable people that have this. I probably have this post in the wrong area, I apologize if so!

Hi and welcome Parrothead- if you go to the buy sell and swap section there is a post 1st one that has a list of sellers, all good people and some of them have tumbling rocks for sale. I have seen a lot of tumbling material that was bought from the sellers in the tumbling section that is really nice.
Good luck, BeLinda

The Rockshed is a crackerjack supplier too.www.therockshed.com. I buy most my exotic tumble stuff from them when I want more color for the kiddies than is available locally. I'm rolling some of their amethyst and carnelian right now. Nice rough for a good price. Another fine supplier and a member here is www.arizonalapidaryandminerals.com. I'm fond of moss agate and plume agate and they have some really fine stuff you can whack up for the tumbler and I think they have good tumble mixes too. They've got some real eyepopping southwestern tumbling materials that I've rolled in the past.... Mel

You can look for posts from Jamie and also from Tony at the Idaho rock shop in the near future. Jamie and her husband Rodney are at Burro Creek along with Tony and Cris who will be home shortly.
