Yep, those darn tumblers will find any defects or soft spots in tumble cabs right quick. Got to say though that yours are really pretty darn nice. Just don't have the control you do with hand cabbing but then it's way less time consuming so I always figure it's worth the risk unless I know the stone is going to be hurt in the tumbler....Mel

Wow, those turned out really nice! I especially like the first one with the petrified wood. Very cool.

Those are awsome, knew that big blue would be incredible. we often find good layering in them. That pet wood is nice and the agate is wonderful. your work is something to follow. Many Thanks Debby and Tom

Thank you everyone. You are all too kind.
Tom and Debby- Boy, you are right, and those are just examples of two of the rocks you sent, each one was awesome!
Mel, you said a mouth-full. I think that when your goal is to get the most out of a large amount of mixed rough rock of similar hardness, then a good plan might go something like this:
1. Tumble 2. Look at what you have 3. Pull out selected best material for hand cabbing 4. Open up pits, smooth out pitty areas by hand with saw, dremel, or grinder 5. Tumble again 6. Re-break or cut out problem areas in rock that have now proven to be stubborn 7. Tumble some more 8. Pull the ones that just won't make it in the tumbler to cab by hand or toss 9. Tumble to polish
Hope this helps someone and isn't too confusing. Thanks again! Jo
