Hey there. I finished up a batch of mixed jasper and agate. This was the first batch that I carried through to the bitter end in my Lortone 6 lb barrel. I probably won't do that again, since I suspect that the big batches of rocks caused more breakage on the final stages than a 3 lb. load would (despite my using lots and lots of plastic pellets for cushioning). Nonetheless, the rocks came out pretty good. I ran my usual procedure (many rounds of 60/90 SC coarse, one 7 day round of medium 120/200 SC, one 10 day round of 500 AO, one 10 day round of 1000 SC, 2 weeks in cerium oxide, and a few hours of burnish in Borax). Here is the batch: pic1: pic2: pic3: I took this photo to show off the shine (gotta love the results you get from cerium oxide + really hard rocks!): pic4: And now for a bunch of close-ups for some of my favorites. Please excuse the large number of photos posted, but I'm pretty proud of this batch: pic5: pic6: pic7: pic8: This rock has some really pretty colors, but I can't photograph it well since it is too shiny! pic9: pic10: Mexican crazy lace: pic11: pic12: Carnelian (I love the reds): pic13: Black agate from a large chunk purchased on eBay: pic14: All in all, I'm quite pleased. Thanks for looking!
