Important stuff about the 2010 Census! See below… All you give them is the number of people living at the address, say 3 adults 1 child. That’s it. They don’t need to know if we own a registered hand gun They don’t need to know any salary range They don’t need to know if we are democratic or republican They don’t need to know if we voted in the last election They don’t need to know if anyone has been convicted of a felony. Lastly, they only need our number of people living at the address, not the last name, and it goes without saying, never give anyone your social security number unless you are opening a bank account. 2010 Census to Begin THIS IS PRETTY BASIC ADVICE; Be Cautious About Giving Info to Census Workers by Susan Johnson With the U.S. Census process beginning, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) advises people to be cooperative, but cautious, so as not to become a victim of fraud or identity theft. The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census is under way as workers have begun verifying the addresses of households across the country. Eventually, more than 140,000 U.S. Census workers will count every person in the United States and will gather information about every person living at each address including name, age, gender, race, and other relevant data. The big question is - how do you tell the difference between a U.S. Census worker and a con artist? BBB offers the following advice: If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don't know into your home. Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information. Do not give your Soci al Security number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S. Census. REMEMBER, NO MATTER WHAT THEY ASK, YOU REALLY ONLY NEED TO TELL THEM HOW MANY PEOPLE LIVE AT YOUR ADDRESS. While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION. The Census Bureau will not ask for Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers, nor will employees solicit donations. Any one asking for that information is NOT with the Census Bureau. AND REMEMBER, THE CENSUS BUREAU HAS DECIDED NOT TO WORK WITH ACORN ON GATHERING THIS INFORMATION. No Acorn worker should approach you saying he/she is with the Census Bureau.< /span> Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail, or in person at home. However, the Census Bureau will not contact you by Email, so be on the lookout for Email scams impersonating the Census. Never click on a link or open any attachments in an Email that are supposedly from the U.S. Census Bureau. Every time that a census rolls around the "do gooders" always complain and claim that the homeless weren't all counted and that the numbers presented are way too low. What they don't tell you is that they are members of the "homeless" bureaucracy whose income comes from the government giveaway programs for the "homeless". They always want to inflate the numbers so they get more money. Bob

In John's defense, I don't think he was saying the real census was going to ask those particular questions but was warning us that fake census workers are out there and might be seeking personal information other than that which is required, for their own reasons, whether to gather info illegally to promote a political agenda or to find out who to rob....Mel

Mel, I think that is what John meant too. Just saying I didn't see any of that on my form.

I knew what you meant John, great info!! This is all good stuff to know because there are people out there who will always try to capitalize off our vulnerabilities. Too bad we can't declare "open season" on them. lol

The constitutional requirement for the Census is found in Article. I. Section. 2. Paragraph. 3. “The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”
As to the phrase, “[As] they shall by Law direct,” Paul Galvin rightly notes, “This language merely goes to the mechanics of the counting (who will do it; when it is to be done; how, when results are to be reported; and so forth); it does not enlarge what may be counted. Constitutionally the only permitted enumeration is the number of people in the United States. Why? Because that count is the determinant for apportionment and therefore the only pertinent information needed.”
The purpose of the Census is that of counting the US population in order to apportion among the states the number of representatives in the US House of Representatives. That’s it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
There is nothing in the Constitution requiring or even suggesting questions regarding race, ethnicity, whether one owns or rents his or her home, income status, disability status, education, or anything of the sort. The only purpose of the Census is to count the US population. Anything beyond that is nothing more than an intrusive government prying and snooping into our lives: something the federal government is doing with greater and greater frequency and intensity these days.

The final bill, Statute 2 of March 1, 1790, provided that census marshals and assistants be appointed. The marshals were directed to: cause the number of the inhabitants within their respective districts to be taken; omitting in such enumeration Indians not taxed, and distinguishing free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, from all others; distinguishing also the sexes and colours of free persons, and the free males of sixteen years and upwards from those under that age.The act directed that the names of the heads of families be recorded, the number of white males sixteen and older, the number of white males under sixteen, the number of white females, the number of all other free persons, and the number of slaves. Today, the controlling law for the U.S. Census is Title 13 of the U.S. Code Today, all persons are counted as whole persons — the original census counted "other persons" (slaves) as three-fifths persons for the purposes of apportionment. This fractionalization was removed by the 14th Amendment. The Attorney General ruled, in 1940, that there were no longer any Indians in the United States who could be classified as "not taxed." In the Constitution, non-taxed Indians are not counted. The authority of the Congress to conduct the census in whatever way it wishes, and thus to require that the forms be filled out is found in the Constitution itself, which notes: [The Census] shall be made ... in such Manner as [Congress] shall by Law direct. The Congress is also authorized to ask various questions in the census aside from the basic headcount by virtue of this clause and by virtue of the Necessary and Proper Clause. www.usconstitution.net

The fine for not filling out the census is $100. If the wrong questions are asked (which this year they were not), I'll just give 'em $100 and be on my way.
I can just see the 2020 census.
Please include pictures of your latest colonoscopy so we can determine if you are fit enough to live or if we need to let you die. This applies only if you are rich enough to afford a colonoscopy. Everyone on government health care will die soon enough anyway.

id say first i don't much care for the way dems or reps work -- the way i pick my side is to find the party that will harm me and mine the least -- yes thats just sad to try and trick people with census on the paper -- but thats kinda a very small lie if you consider what the dems just did to every American tax payer with obummer care and now there pushing to make a buncha criminals legal America citizens so they can buy there vote with more hand outs -- when i look at it that way i still have to lean to the reps
