Do you think this mix would work out okay ? 2 lb az lg pet wood , 1 lb mex lace , 1and 1/2 .lb flint .,1 and 1/2lb quartz .1 lb quatzite type beach/local rounded rocks collected , and a couple pieces of quartz and 2 sodalites ...AND # LBS of non abrasive ceramic s . Any foreseen problems here I am gueesing the sodalites maybe but for the most part I picked out the two pieces that were mostly filled in with white just to try and fill up a 12 lb barrell !! to get this going cus I have a little wait on my hands for more rough .... p.s.) my first attempt ..I hear that pet woods ,,,-agates and quartses and quartzites shouldnt really be done together !!!

I'd keep an eye on the sodalite but the rest should be ok.

I agree that the sodalite may have a problem, particularly with polishing. I've also had mixed hardnesses of petrified wood--either keep a close eye on it or do a "scratch test" on it first. Take one of your agates or quartzes with a sharp edge and see if you can scratch the petrified wood--if so, then you may have some difficulty with chipping or polishing as well.

Well I just pulled out the sodalites ..I dont want no problems. ...Anyways evrything didn"t look so bad and that was my first experience with how messy everything can be .. lol but I did notice there was alot of bubbles all the way to the lid and sticking to the lid as well and took awhile for them to disappear I would say like 5 minutes to completely disappear while i pulled out the soda"s ...Should i be concerened at all .... I didn"t really know what to do but I did add a little bit more of water .... And that was only after 8 hours of tumbling since i started my first batch ...Thanks Again guys Greg

That's normal Greg. Water level should be to the bottom of the top layer of rocks, so part of the top rocks are sticking out of the water only.
I told Greg in a PM that I tumble my quartz and quartzite separately from the harder agates and jaspers. Have had better results that way. Less blush and nosebleeds in the batch. Jo
