Okay, finally cleaned up enough space and pulled out the 6 pound tumbler and the 5 pound vibe. Thanks to a few other members here I've been loading up on the rough to get started and today I'm diving in, my first attempts at tumbling, so wish me luck!!! Of course I know this takes time, but I"m hopeful to turn out some beautiful stones...
Thanks again to those of you whom I purchased rough from!

Good luck! It's a fun background hobby that doesn't require a lot of time and the results are fantastic! It's awesome to see some gritty & dirty stones turn into beautiful pieces. It really makes one appreciate the world we live in - where even the common rock can exemplify beauty! Have fun!

I thought the rocks were beautiful going in, I just can't wait until a month down the road when I'm almost finished and can see how pretty they really are!

I gather you may have a little advantage when it comes to photographing your tumbles. Good luck and be ever so patient!

Yep, sounds like that's key in tumbling. I've got the two barrel tumbler going, and can already tell that 6 gallons is not going to be big enough for me...lol... got to get some starter grit for the vibe so I can use it... forgot to pick up 120/220 for that and for my second step on the rotary.

Good luck !! and have fun! i always anticipate the 1st dose of rinse water over the still muck coated batch . when you reveal the much rounder stones and as the wet rock shows what it will look like once they are finally polished . enjoy !!! --paul

Going good, ran 24 hours and burped them today, didn't really need it as they hadn't built up any noticeable pressure but I did want to see how well they were doing. Both had built up a perfect slurry and the stones were well coated. Very happy so far. Gotta get me some 120/220 for next week if I can find some....

I love seeing newbies and their first batches. Mine were not so good. But .... I have learned a lot, have more to learn, and have finished some really pretty batches.
Good Luck and Have Fun!!

Patience is the key! Waiting 3, 4 or more weeks while they run in 60/90 will almost make ya' crazy, but the wait is worth it.
And, yeah, once ya' get the bug 1 or 2 tumblers won't be enough! ;D
The Rock Shed is the best place for buying grit and other tumbling needs. Super fast shipping. I order a bunch of stuff Thursday afternoon and it was here Saturday. Love those little sweet treats they always include with your order too!
