This is a link I found while trolling . missourigeologists.org/Links.htmIf you look in the first column you will see Bob Beste's "Location Guide for Rockhounds in the United States, 3rd. ed.": Part I--Alabama through Idaho (PDF, 155 p.) Part II--Illinois through North Dakota (PDF, 186 p.) Part III--Ohio through Wyoming (PDF, 193 p.) If you click on the one that has your state you can find out what is found in the state by county...I think it is a pretty useful site.. here is an example ..... PRINCESS ANNE COUNTY VIRGINIA BEACH, I mi. NE of jct. Of I-64 and Rte. 58 (Virginia Beach Blvd.), just N of the Hollywood subdivision, in area pits⎯Clam Geodes (fossil clam shells packed with ivory and clear dogtooth Calcite crystals). Just thought I would share it with everyone....John

Thanks for the link John. I just checked it out and it's quite a lot of potentially useful info.

Excellent link. Lots of good info. Found that many locations in Montana weren't specific...but it does seem to give the general area. In my opinion, the hunt is half the fun though! Thanks for the link!
