Alrighty then! LOL
I have had several people ask me to do this, and I am not sure if I am qualified enough to do so, but since the curiosity is peaked about how I do the swirls, I'm doin it anyways! LOL
I have said it before, there is absolutley no rhyme or reason to my madness when I wrap, and this thread should prove that beyond a doubt! hahahaha!
I am going to show you 3 ways I have done, and do my swirls. For those new to wrapping, and struggling with this, try to always remember that wire...all wire...has a creasing point, a point to which you can no longer bend it b-4 it creases. Trying to stay away from that is the hardest part I think, when you are first learning. I know it was for me.
The wire I am working with is 21 g square nickel silver scrap I had lefteover, and these pieces are about 8 inches long or so. I suggest you use some scrap to practice with for a bit, to find the creasing point of the wire, and figure out where YOU are comfortable having your fingers to make this work. This is just what works for ME, and may not work for you, this is just to kinda give you an idea of what I do.
Throughout all these pictures, I am keeping the wire firm in my fingers, not tight, just firm enough to make sure the wire isn't moving all over the place.
so here we go....I hope this helps those that have asked!
This 1st set is for double wired swirls....you will need 2 pieces of wire for these, and is how I do the swirls at the bail of my wraps....
Ok, that part is done, now for a cple little swirls under it.....I hope you can see what I am doin here.
Take note that the very end of the loose wire to be swirled is where you wanna grab it
note how I am holding the wire with my left fingers....wire is flat
DONE!!
Now for a single wire loop using the ball of your finger tips....
single strand of square wire
you can loosely ring it in to a loop with your fingers....remember that creasing point, don't go too far
now we have a circle
See how I have the wire laid on the ball of the fingertip?
Now we have a loop inside a loop
Then there is always the tool method...this is using a fat rug crochet hook, you can get a set of these at Wal-mart for 4.00
I just wrap it around it a couple times
pull it off and you have 2 loops the same size...wanna change it?
again...grab the very end of the wire
and just turn it towards the center of the loop, don't force too much, or you will find that creasing point again, just gradually turn it in that direction
and he we have loops again!
Now I have NO idea whether this will help or not, but this is what I do. I did these in about 10 minutes, and had my husband take the pics while I did it. If there is another pic you think would help just let me know......
Thanks for lookin!
Marie
