I got some bone and some nice new jasper out of mexico. Otherwise I combed the misc slab bins. Got some lace, obsidian, unnamed jasper, and some banded pieces. I didn't scan these with a ruler and PhotoBUcket messes with he sizes of the larger images. This one is about 3x5: Nice bone. The largest slab here is about 3x4: cooperite - 2.5x3 - can you say bolo: graveyard plume about 3x4: unknown jasper 4x6: Lace 3.5 x 6: Lace 3x3: misc pieces - largest 3.5 x 3: a little pricey - new jasper with no name - smallest piece is 2.5 x 2: this is a half nodule 1.5 x 2.25 x 1 small bone - largest is 1.5 x 1.25: tabu tabu end cut 3x4 x 0.75

I should say, not Pietersite pricey. These slabs were $4 to $7, some I did nto pick were $8. I am just more comfortable with $3/$4 slabs.
I will do a few virtual cabs this morning.

Nice stuff! Great looking dino slabs. After seeing what Larry brought out to Quartzsite this year I'd say the unknown is some of the new dig stuff from Flint Ridge.

It does remind me of Flint Ridge. The feel is a little more waxy and less flinty. But I have seen that grey ladder pattern in Flint Ridge flint.
The seller said this was from a guy he met in Texas and said it came from Mexico. Not sure what to think.

WOW nice bones, that first agate, if the fortification lines are like little dots might be blizzard agate, I have something very similar that was sold to me as that. Outstanding examples of colorful bone, that new Jasper though too cool, that stuff is going to make some killer cabs, and the tabu tabu, what is that? Nice stuff! Amber

The unknown jasper (5th picture) looks like Indian Blanket jasper from southern Utah. It's bit softer and has a waxy feel to it. sometimes there is a little common opal running through it.

Bejewelme - Tabu-tabu is a breccia out of Africa. Usually reddish chunks with pale rose/tan outlines in clear to milky agate. This piece is not typical because the background is mostly red and there are dark bits. Sometimes there are darker elements. I got a 10lb piece from RiverbendLapidary a while back that has more dark black translucent background than clear/milky agate. Have not had access to a big saw to cut it however, so I am unsure if the reddish chunks will have paler rims, or if the black is mostly on the surface or not. Here is a pic of the 10lb piece I got, but the darker color is not typical.

Cool Haul Dan, I agree with Beef on the new unknown. Sure does look like classic material from Flint ridge. Isnt that the same as Mozarkite?

Mozarkite is more pastel, but similar. I will ask aroung about new colorful flint out of flint ridge. maybe I can find more.
thing is some of the slabs of this material that I I did not buy looked like dark grey bubbles and small dark breccia on a light grey background. I have not seen flint look like that.

Talked with the seller a bit about the new material - said the name translated into Taffy Jasper, kinda. That's what he'll be calling it at the next few shows he does. He had some absolutely gorgeous bone he was saving for a certain collector - $500/slab quality. Greens, reds, and blues.

well might be best he did not show me. Today the car dies, will get the bill tomorrow.
Slabs, tools, and diamond bits, I got out of there for <$200. ANother $80 at Harbor Freight. Can't do that every weekend.
So Rhonda, did you buy any of these slabs? I left some nice $8 ones.
