After all the yard work yesterday, I only had a little time to drag out the saw and set it up to get a few cuts done. Cut a few end pieces off of some rocks that I received from the Burro Creek trip. I just love that care package! ;D Here is one of the stones that I cut a piece off to see the pattern. My picture sucks but the darker red looking area is actually a medium purple. Preforms a little dry Wet I just noticed that the pigeon blood I am working on is in there. It popped off the dop stick and will have to be reattached so I can finish working it so it can be with the other I finished. Don't know if I will get any cutting done today...The body is really hurting after the yard work! Fran

Seems like a few of us had cutting on our minds yesterday. Great looking pre-forms Fran. The one with the vein running down the center really caught my eye! I will be watching for cabs soon. Steve

Paul, I only use a cheap tile saw from Sears. After I cut them out, I gently go around the cab with the edge of the saw to round the edges. The softer stones I don't do that to. I wait to get them to the grinder or a 280 wheel if I have to be really gentle with them. I just shaped the two in the bottom right side. Both kind of soft. I am going to have to start on the 280 or the 600 with them. Fran

I have tried a couple of diamond band saws and am generally not happy with the results. I have used and burned out 2 db 100 band saws (motors on them do not last very long ). I also have a diamond laser 5000 that works but it takes too long to cut a preform. I like my 6" trim saw with cheap 6$ diamond blades for preforming best.
