My wife really likes to shop at second-hand stores/ I sometimes get dragged along (usually begrudgingly). I live in the midwest, and as you can imagine, the chances of running across lapidary equipment are inversely correlated with the thickness of the topsoil. So you can imagine my surprise when I came across a Lortone 33B tumble polisher while waiting for my wife to be done shopping. The drums were nowhere to be found, of course. It was marked at $5, but was 50% off.
So now I need a few 3 lb Lortone drums, I suppose.
My first tumbler.. Yipee!

Congrats! You can usually find drums on ebay, or there's always The Rock Shed.
The drums will cost more than the tumbler! LOL

Yeah, good deal! You'll be into the barrels about $50, but still, that's an excellent tumbler for just about half the new price. Pick up a belt or two at the same time, just for spares. Also, you'll want to check the condition of the bushings and if they're worn down, you might think about replacing those. Good news is that replacement parts, short of the barrels, are fairly inexpensive. Good find!

Harbor Freight --- i would buy a chicago electric -2 barrel tumbler .... just to get the barrells. i would not use the tumbler (from my experience , they are junk ) but the barrells are almost the same as Lortone . never had any problem with the barrells --paul
