Greetings! - I have one Medium Flate Rate box with 25# of Oregon Snakeskin agate each. These have small 1" and larger chunks... Some is probably too large for tumbling and from experience they do make nice faced specimens if you like clear agate LOL.... Also some piece are very snakey and others are really smooth. I'm asking $50.00 per box and that price is shipped to your door! I have two boxes to sell. Jason

Hey bud - Well this material is usually tumbled. The way you do it is tumble for a short period of time and leave some of the "skin" down in the valleys. So you have a polished piece of agate with skin pattern. Some of the smooth stones in this lot will polish up just a clear/white colored agate.
I personally took a few of these today and cut a face and polished them. It's a different way to display the agate. Nice clean agate with a white skin... Interesting contrast. All in all the agate is pretty plain looking and most all looks the same. If your real lucky I have seen some snakekin have really nice dendritic pattern and even a hint of pink hue to it.
If I remember tomorrow I'll shoot a picture of the polished faced specimen I finished today

If anybody wants to play with chemically colouring agate by Doctor Fischers methods, this is the agate to use. It is what he used to get so many different colours, and inclusions. Woody

Great post Woody - That's exactly right... This agate is not as common as it used to be around Oregon as several large companies are buying it up as they use it for creating I won't say fake, but simulated dendrites with it.
I've never tried to treat agate, sound like it might be fun, but dangerous.

I took some of those to school for the kids the other day, they loved them, they are pretty plain inside, people like them just as is, it is so funny every time someone comes over they always want to take one fo those snakeskin agates with them.

Exactly - At shows I always place a small bin of these and stick a buck a stone and the kids love em! I just got a new batch the other day and got a little carried away so it's time to dump a few pounds lol

to be honest - I'm not exactly sure! - I don't know if the sun bleaches the outer rind of these or how it happens. Some of the stones in the box have thicker rinds and others have thin walls.
