Had this prehnite from New Jersey sitting there, staring at me as if it were almost homeless, so I thought I'd teach it a lesson.... It's now becoming a nice paperweight for my desk. Flattened the back, bottom and sides, but leaving many rough areas natural, want to polish it up but leave some places in a natural state, so far I've worked it only at 180, and that took about three hours anyway. Tomorrow I'll start on the next level, but so far, kind of interesting. I sure do love the flat lap you guys talked me into, all my frustrations just grind away like excess material....lol.... You can see the angles I've cut into it, and the areas of rough I'm leaving. I've also added some pretty tight slants to one side so that I can polish a large area of that beautiful green material, so you'll have the face au naturale, then just to the right of it this gleaming sleek surface that reflects the inner beast...lol...

By the way, this is one heavy rock, it's 4" wide, 2" deep, 2" tall, weighs 11.7 ounces, or 314.4 grams, 1573 carats. It's a beast. I cantilevered the base with three faces, wide/narrow/wide, so I can rock it when I'm bored. Touch it with a finger tip and it rocks back and forth easily. Turned out quite nice, now to get down to real polishing. Can't wait to see it done....

I like it! When I am grinding & cutting rock everything just goes away for awhile. It's a great way to relax & recharge! Donnie
