Been packing the house preparing for our June settlement and after two days of rain, Angie and I needed to get out to shake the dust out of our hair (packing can be a dusty job). So we hit the creek. Been into the Jaspers/Agates lately, so that's what I went for, and found some interesting stuff... ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01464.jpg) ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01513.jpg) Not bad for Pennsylvania, huh? I spotted a couple pieces of Albite Moonstone and picked them up. Bill says I've become a Moonstone snob and throw away what he considers to be perfectly good pieces, LOL. But these two looked pretty pure to me. ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01509.jpg) Months ago, I showed my friend Rob a few pieces of something I had found and he said it was Deweylite. These are the first pieces I found. ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01475.jpg) That last pic, I was trying to capture a little light that shines within the piece, like a tiny candle burning inside it. Haven't wanted to cut it and polish it until I found more. At first I thought it was plastic! LOL But, I suspect it is resinous. Here is the third one I found several months later. And then here is the fourth one I found. This is just on the edge of some Serpentine. Well today, I found one that looked real bright and promising, even though it was more Jasper-ish. ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01504.jpg) As I was looking at that, I looked down on the stone my foot was on and nearly fell into the creek. ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01492.jpg) Okay, that was a thrill! So, as I put that big one down on the sandy bank, I spotted this thing. ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01470.jpg) I know I've seen rocks like this in the creek before, but today, I either had a unique piece, or the sunlight was especially good... because this is what I saw: ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/th_M2U00048.jpg) Holy crap! Could that somehow be Tiger-Eye? Just wanted to share a couple pics of Angie and Puppy Toby from their visit last Sunday. ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01460.jpg) Thanks for looking! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Jo

Thanks Mike! Forgot how hard it is to take pics of a busy frolicking puppy, LOL.
Paul, you got my number. Won't be able to travel to meet you with packing here, but if you can make a stop for a little hike, give me a buzz! I'll go check your neighbor's rock out now.
Randy just told me in a PM to grind what I'm calling Deweylite a little to see if it smells like pine to check if it is amber. Just tried it and nope, no smell. But, I swear, there are tiny lights inside it.

Nice finds, Jo - lol about the moonstone - I've started thinking of you as the Queen of Moonstone! Those rocks that have little candles in them - could that be opal peeking out? And the one in the video - is my monitor screwed up, or do I see PINK flashes? Wow!

Tom, every time I tell myself that my propensity for moonstone has become excessive, I find a better piece, LOL. So, I've given up trying to manage it. I think I have a dozen boxes of mixed rough in storage right now, LOL. My friend Rob said he found rare Tiger Eye there, so I knew it could be a possibility, but never expected that I'd find any. Yep, that's red stone with pink flashes. Bill is playing golf today so I have a free day. I'm going to cut that piece and cab it to see what it looks like.
The little candle rocks.... well, when I showed the first two pieces to Amber and Tony when they were here, Tony wondered if it was opal right off the bat. I'm so totally scared to assume so I'm skeptical. Never heard anything about opal being there. I have the pieces in a box with some others to take to the local geologist to ask. Was going to go last Saturday but my spring allergies kept me home. Maybe this Saturday morning I will get an answer. It's certainly got me scratching my head for sure.

Jo, I think you have Beef's "Rock Vision V2 - the East Side" going on! You're gonna do very well on the road! Nate

Nate, you're comparing me to Beef? Huh? Me? LOL.
Well, I did take the Deweylite in for a visit to our local geologist and he said it is indeed Deweylite. Will take a shine, so I feel safe to work it now. We'll see what happens to those candles.
We took an Easter hike down a creek called Rocky Run today. The moonstone is a little different there. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow and show and tell...
I have some local jasper cuts I want to share too.

Sure was, and still is now. Except we are moving boxes and it is getting hot today! I forgot something important... Paul RockRookie gave me a call on Saturday. He was staying 40 mins away and he came out and we walked one of the creeks together. Paul is awesome! I was rushing it cause we were burning daylight and I wanted to get him home in time to still spend quality time with the family. He brought me three slabs and a chunk of the rock that his neighbor's daughter found in his grandmother's garden. It's fossilized Crinoids (sp?) and bivalves (clam). No pic of the chunk because I packed it with my specimens. Thanks Paul, you rock! ![](http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo8/NatureNut_album/Deweylite/DSC01541.jpg)
