I was going through some grit and discovered these.. any idea what these are? The names are: Grit Myser. I think it's a prepolish Titanium oxide and SISA prepolish I was thinking of just trying them out and seeing what happens, but if anyone knows what these are then great. I also want to know if these are toxic at all. Any clue on this mystery grit? Thanks, Steve The sisa here is not pink. The container is pink and the mystery stuff is white.

Ok, maybe I'm missing something. Could Titanium Oxide be Tin Oxide?

Ok, I looked it up. Looks like Sisa Prepolish and Titanium Oxide Polish come with Lortone kits.

Hahaha. I have no idea, but I Googled Grit Myser/Myser Grit and it assumes "Myser" is "mystery." Thought that was kind of funny...because it is!

Oh cool. Yeah I just saw that too. Good to know what it is before I stick it in a barrel. Still wish I knew what grit myser was. Hmm. Steve

So you were "going through some grit and discovered these"?!? Did you leave the door open and someone or something come it and hide it there? ;D
Say's it's "For Lapidary Tumblers, Flat Laps & Vibrating Laps"
It's like using dish soap as a wetting agent, it just makes the grit stick to the rocks better while the slurry is being generated.
So... In the future lock the door or get a bigger one so they can drop off the good stuff!

Covington includes a sample of Old Miser with every rotary tumbler they sell. Color looks right for Old Miser. Titanium Oxide (usually listed as Titanium Dioxide) is a polish from the "old days". I found a possibly contaminated barrel of it in my dad's things and tried some on some Montana Moss. It worked very much like cerium. When I searched for it I kept coming up with references for make up ingredients. I did see it on the shelf the last time Alpha was in Tucson.

I've been using TiO2 as a tumbler polish. It's inexpensive and does a good job. The only problem is that it is messy in clean up. It will stain your shoes, clothes and anything else porous white. If there is a paint manufacturer in your area you may be able to get a bit from them. It is also used in make-up and sun screen. -- Steve
