Wow this site is great. I've been collecting rocks my whole life. But I am completely new to tumbling. I Just got my first tumbler and plan to start a batch soon. I am very excited to learn from the knowledge you all have.

Yes, welcome, I joined months before starting my first batch, then watching my cheapo tumbler go up in smoke. But that's okay, you learn from mistakes. Also I've since started cabbing, only because everyone here got me so darned interested in it. Tumbling, well you can put it on autopilot and let it go, but with cabbing your results are not immediate, but they are within a few hours. Plus, I love handling the stones, something about creating cabs just relaxes me.
Anyway, welcome aboard and have fun!

Thanks for the welcome. I am interested in cabbing but just learning about it. I have to learn more about the types of rock to work with. as i collected rocks before i just kept ones i liked in their rough form. I can't wait to start to cut into them. I just need the equipment.

Welcome to the board! It really is a lot of fun to tumble stones as well as frustrating some times. Toss the directions you get with your tumbler out the window and give your stones enough time in the rough grind to round. You will be happy you did when you get to the finish! The best part of cutting stones is just seeing what is inside! I am always amazed at what I find! Fran

I'm telling you, you'll become a junky before you know it. I came here for a knife from Rockmanken, now I'm sitting in my garage enjoying a soda, while smoking a cigarette and cabbing stuff from boxes of rocks from friends on here. It's not only been a hoot to learn about this stuff, but I find I'm so relaxed when working on the stones because you have to focus on it, and all else seems to slip away. And like you, I've pretty much picked up rocks my entire life and have chuckled at some of the stones I had laying around that are going in my tumbler now.
Anyway, an addictive hobby. Was going to try crack, but found out that my stone heroine was oh so much more interesting...lol...

Welcome to the board. If you have questions, just ask and someone will get you an answer. Also, we like to see pictures of your rocks or jewelry that you make. Also, where are you located. Ken
