yes its is rewarding and a thing I like to do in between cabbing and wire work. It can be hard on your hands but then again so can cabbing and wire

What is alabaster, anyway? Donnie Alabaster is a very soft stone that has been carved for thousands of years. Calcium is a major component.

WOW very nice work, there is a man in our rock club who is very disabled and his therapy is carving alabaster and soapstone, it is simply amazing. Your work is very good, I love the opal! He brought a piece for us to take home and try, I am thinking this requires a bunch of patience, that I don't have, LOL. I should send you the soapstone to carve, if you want it let me know, it is collected locally here in PA. Thank you for sharing this very difficult talent! Amber

Thanks!
sure! I love carving and I let the stone tell me what it wants to be, usually turns out better that way too!

You are super talented & patient ! I checked on your selling site but didn't see carving for sale. Do you sell them & do you have good luck on that site as opposed to Ebay? Nancy

The white alabaster is in a gallery in Winthrop and the rest are all sold or were comissions. I used to sell on ebay back when and my stuff would not last a week, but the fees got to be too much so I moved to another site. I have 5 carvings of my own in process and a walrus ivory Tlinget(sp?) knife handle replication being done on comission I have not tried to sell carvings on that site yet
