Friend of mine gave me this as a house warming gift, it's a crustal spear about 10" tall. Quite beautiful, just about luscious to hold. Many inclusions, with a slightly blue tint to it and the inclusions are white. They almost look like snow flakes. The first pics are with a WHITE light shining through it, you can see how it flouresces blue tones with white light through it. Standing alone, it's almost like looking at an ice cube, only not cube shaped of course. Then the last one I shot the laser through it and boy did it sparkle!!!! I love this thing but have no clue what it's made of...

Wow, that is a cool housewarming gift. Hmm, maybe my apartment needs to be warmed ;D Looks like it may be lab grown or man made because of unusual color and it looks like the tip is "perfectly" shaped. :2cents: Although I could be wrong, it's happened before.

Robin, I agree with Diane. It looks lab grown. Nevertheless, it is beautiful and worthy of a prominent place in your home. Ken

It's a material called Cherry Quartz - Correct these are man made in China. It's pretty material and makes cool looking items which are widely used in Spheres, Points or Obelisks and commercial cabs. I've seen some with black speckles which look like dendrites even.
What else is China gonna fake?

lol... yes he did say it was "home grown", so I assumed man-made. Jerry, in Hong Kong, go figure. Anyway, it's absolutely beautiful and I'm trying to figure out a way to make nice, small bases with lites directed up into the obelisk so that I can use them as a display. We have this beautiful wooden shelf that is in the new house, it's where I'm going to display all of these beautiful pieces I've received over the past few months.
Glad everyone likes it, it's quite the specimen! I didn't have time to take photos of all the other beautiful items I received as they went directly into storage until we get moved in. Should make for nice display pieces when I'm done. Have MANY spheres, obelisks, etc. All my geeky friends know I'm into that stuff so they've sent me literally pounds and pounds of stuff.
