It was really a nice day yesterday and I got to spend a few hours out doing what I love to do, slicing rock and cutting out preforms ;D I always think I can get about 5 times more done that what I end up with but oh well, I am happy with what I got done. Here are the slabs that I managed to get done. They are mostly that very gemmy Rhodonite and one slice got in there of Mara mamba Tigereye Dry Wet Here are the preforms Imperial Jasper and the BC Ocean Stone Sowbelly purple burro creek(?) This came in the box from that trip but most of this stone is softer, onyx like. I am hoping they turn out great! preforms on the r are from some slabs, rough I got from Titania and the left is from Highplainsdrifter Peitersite, red In the sun Thanks for looking! Fran

Oh Fran those are beautiful and I am envious. I've been trying to get some cuddle time with my saw and Billy is keeping me busy packing! Look at that Red Peitersite! Wow! Love the pink set, it's gonna be stunning. Wish we could see a closeup of the tiger eye (hint, hint). :cheesy:

Thanks Jo. I will try to get out and take a picture of the Tiger Eye. Wizard, I use a Sears cheap tile saw that I got on sale for $79. I keep a stack of replacement blades on hand so when I feel like cutting stuff, nothing gets in the way. The blades are 7" and you get about a 1 1/2" cut so I really have to work when I am rotating a stone to keep the slab strait. That is a challenge! I only messed up one of the Rhodocrosite slabs and got it a bit uneven but once you cut the preforms out, you can smooth out any problems there. With slabs and just trimming out the preforms, it really works great. If I want to cut many preforms from a slab, I will draw cut lines on the slab so I do not make a mistake and place too many drawn cabs on the slab that are impossible to get. I cut on the saw backwards too so I don't get completely soaked. Fran

Love the pink Rhodo too but the Mara mamba is a particular favorite of mine. You really went to town on slicing. Be sure to show us those cabs when you finish. Nancy
