I have the 3-1.5b right now. I'm wanting to get some larger barrels wondering what combinations of barrels I can run on this without stressing the motor. As far as I can see, it appears to be the same unit as the 33B with the barrel configuration being the only difference. Can I run 2x3lb on the 3-1.5b unit, or a 4lb+1.5lb? I figure the 2.3 might be the same but not sure if it can handle the 4lb one with a 1.5 running too. I'm not sure what motors come in the other units as I 've never owned them.

Greetings"Tortuga" it looks as if your only options are 1.5lb & 3lb barrels, because the 33B / 315B rollers are in a recessed area with steel lip both side so barrels with a larger width would probally not fit at all (not touching the rollers), just resting on the steel lips! Lortone barrel dimensions: 0.68kg (1.5lb) = 2+5/8" Length X 3+7/8" Width 1.36kg (3lb) = 4+1/8" Length X 3+7/8" Width 1.81kg (4lb) = 3+1/2" Length X 5+3/4" Width 2.72kg (6lb) = 3+5/8" Length X 6+3/4" Width 5.44kg (12lb) = 7+1/2" Length X 6+3/4" Width My 1.36kg (3lb) Beach (UK) tumbler is running right now with a 6lb Lortone barrel with a load of 4.53kg (10lb) including the barrel at 20rpm instead of usual 47rpm, i did have a problem with over 1.86kg (4.10lb), but resolved it with a complete stripdown, cleaning & re-oiling. -- I hail from (The Barony of Seabegs) Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire, U.K, where aliens sometimes come for a visit & about 4 miles west from this monstrosity! According to Kingsley catalog, the 3-1.5 and 33B use same motor so you could use 2 -3 lb. barrels.

Greetings "Tortuga", You might be able to use 2 X 0.68kg (1.5lb) + 1 X 1.36kg (3lb) or as "John" says 2 X 1.36kg (3lb). Lortone's 3A, 33B, 3-1.5B & 45C all share the same motor. The 33B & 3-1.5B use the same base & only differs in barrel configurations 2 X 1.36kg (3lb) or 3 X 0.68kg (1.5lb). Lortone's QT6, QT12 & QT66 all share the same motor. The QT12 & QT66 use the same base & only differs in barrel configurations 1 X 5.44kg (12lb) or 2 X 2.72kg (6lb). Rubber barrel weights: dry & empty. Evans (UK) 1.36kg (3lb) = 0.61kg (1.34lb) Lortone (USA) 2.72kg (6lb) = 1.45kg (3.19lb) Lortone (USA) 5.44kg (12lb) = 2.29kg (5.05lb) You should always run the barrels to weight capacity, but exclude the weight of the barrel! So it's 1.360kg (3lb) of rock, grit & water, my method is just rock, grit & water usually adds 100g (3.52oz) or less, usually i overload the barrel too, with a result of 1 or 2 less rpm. -- I hail from (The Barony of Seabegs) Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire, U.K, where aliens sometimes come for a visit & about 4 miles west from this monstrosity!
