I bought a small piece of this stuff off ebay, more as a curiosity on how it works than anything. I'd compare it to labradorite in hardness. Works easily and shines nicely. Cool cat eye effect too. Please excuse the lint. Thanks for looking. Nate

Fiber optic? Excuse my ignorance but what is it? Nice cab and I really like that shade of blue.

Thanks Fran. I know a lot of people don't like man made materials, but this stuff is really nice.

That is really cool Nate. Is that the stuff they make the cats eye beads from?

Sweet cab Nate. I just bought 3 small slabs of this at the rock show in Franklin NJ this past weekend. I had been wanting to get some for a while. I can't tell from the picture, did you put a high dome on it? I think they recommend that. I know there is a chapter on cabbing that in one of my books.

NIce Nate! What happens if you shine a fiber optic light through it? Tony

Tony and Tony, it has a pretty low dome, like what I usually do on a cab, maybe even a little less. I cut this piece, then split it depth wise to see how it worked. It's maybe 3/16" thick. I believe a higher dome would give a more pronounced cat eye. Now I don't know about "fiber optic" light , but regular light transmits through it. You can even see the ruler lines through it in the photo! That was a cool surprise. Here's a few more pix to show the dome and how light transmits through. I glued on a basic bail today so my wife can wear it. Thanks for your comments, Nate
