Here are slabs from may last 2 or 3 sessions with the 10" Beacon Star. Also some shapes I trimmed out of some slabs I had marked.
A new material from Georgia. It has fine light white bands, so I want to see how it will take black dying. I am getting ready to do another batch based on what I learned from the 1st one.
I will put this brazilian (and little slice of Moroccan) into the next batch of sugar-acid dying. I am going to try several materials that have grey translucent areas.
Some Hidden Valley picture jasper. This is from a 20 llb that Randy and I got about 4 years ago. Last rock uncut. THis is just the trimmings I made blocking it up for the Lortone 10" saw.
Some misc. materials that I cut from slabs or just took a slice or two off of a rock I had to see what was inside.
Some Moroccan agate that is going into sugar tonight and will get the acid bath in about 3 weeks. I will hold back one piece to work in natural color.
A slightly softer pastel colored OJ I got from RocksJ2B2 when I lived in Oregon.
A fist sized chunk of red owyhee I had
Some polka dot I brought with me form Oregon. Somewhere there is a whole bucket of real nice Polka Dot that I need to find and cut this summer.
Some Picasso marble. I was blocking a 3x3 piece and these are the trimmings.
A half-fist chunk of plasma agate. Nice blues.
A few trimmed shapes. Some cut from slabs right after I cut them off the rock, and others taken form slabs I had marked and sitting next to the saw.
This is red jasper wood replacement. I really like the white line between the red and brown parts. i took these slices (one on right is an endcut) while blocking the rock for the autofeed on the Lortone. I'll post those slabs when I get them cut.
