Well, It didn't take the ACLU and Obama's posse long to come out against this new law. After all the pres wants all those Latino votes. Heck, I think we should have a safe national ID card that everyone is required to carry, present when voting or getting a drivers license, job etc. I also think amnesty cities should be forced by the Feds to obey immigration laws and the feds should be forced to enforce existing laws and protect our borders. I also do not think it's out of line to have police, after stopping a person for a violation of some kind, to ask for ID and check immigration status for anyone, white, black, brown or whatever. That's part of the friggin job and it's my understanding that's one facet of this law. The other facet is stopping the kiss ass politicians of amnesty cities from forcing the police not to do their jobs and getting this information. I still remember when I was working, the INS boys used to stop by my office to drink coffee, talk guns and discuss their aggravation with their bosses who would not let them raid fields full of illegals because they might run out into traffic while eluding capture and get hit by a car. Friggin ridiculous, and, since the majority of Americans want something done and the feds do nothing, someone has to take action. May as well be the states. I hope Texas is next on the list to pass this sort of law so Texas doesn't become as screwed up as the California I left....Mel

When a citizen of this country leaves here for vacation, business, whatever, they carry their passport stating their citizenship plus several other types of identification . If they have an accident or whatever in another country it is usually standard procedure to show VALID identification. I have been asked for an I.D. in The Bahamas, Canada and Jamaica. Did I jump up and down screaming about my RIGHTS ? NOT HARDLY !!! If a person is caught speeding, running a light or other short duration DUMB attack, I see no reason the officer involved can't ask for a valid drivers license. If the offending individual has no license, is sitting behind the wheel of a stolen car and smells like Alcohol, plus, doesn't speak English, what is the problem with taking a little bit better look at him ? ALL of the Arizona Officers will be attending a mandatory course concerning racial profiling in the next 90 days and I am sure they will be performing in their usual professional manner. It is obvious to me that the hand wringing , pseudo intellectuals that are doing all the whining, have NEVER had any contact with these people. Picture being T-Boned in the middle of an intersection by an illegal who doesn't know what a RED light means. New pickup TOTALED, NO license, NO insurance NO identification!
In MY opinion :
ARIZONA ROCKS !!!

Rich: Farmers illegally hiring illegals *L* Who the heck do you think? If there weren't unethical folks willing to hire'em, and sell out politicians willing to provide amnesty and not enforce our nation's immigration laws like other nations do, we wouldn't have a problem. We would also have more available jobs, uncrowded and better schools, cheaper medical care and less crowded hospitals too. We'd have safer highways, cheaper car insurance, less jail crowding and less crime. Wouldn't even have a farm labor shortage if we eliminated handouts to able bodied folks who refuse to work and instead, had them work farms or starve. I'm sure an empty belly and no roof over their heads would change their attitude about well paid farm labor ( and it is well paid). I'm sure you'll say it's not well paid but that's a misconception. It's hard work but if you're profficeint, pays well here in the US. When I was out in the field doing my biologist thing, I was often the lowest paid guy in the field. The empty belly thing motivated my pop during the depression when he worked farms for 10 cents per hour and was happy to get the work. When you give lazy folks free handouts, why should they work hard farm labor jobs. We do give slackers a free ride and so farmers have to break the law to get enough labor. Unfortunately, entitlements have some negative effects most you touchy feely types refuse to acknowledge..Mel

Arizona has the right to protect itself, don't they? But, on the other hand, if Americans stop paying them to come and work or buying their drugs they will stop coming. So far all indications show that in the end polititions benifit greatly from illegal imigrants. Besides creating their own voting block, it's the new slavery, same as the old slavery. The businesses that profit from it grease up the polititions that maintain the statous quo. I was watching the History channel the other night and they mentioned how in some areas the illegal mexican imigrants where used to replace the black slaves lost in the civil war, and the politics behind it. Even in the 1800's this same thing was occuring. In the big picture it seems terribly cruel to keep baiting these people into this country to be used so.

Lets put on our PC hats and stop calling them illegal aliens. Apparently the fed doesn't believe they are illegal since they don't want to do anything about them. Lets call them Beings Allowed to Ruin Freedom, or BARF's for short. lol OK that was weak. Seriously I have to side with the conservatives on this one. We have laws and I don't understand why we don't enforce them. The AZ law doesn't seem to overstepping common sense, it just seems to be enforcing it. As far as profiling goes, well that will happen regardless. I see it all the time here, over 50% of the people I see pulled over by police are black yet the population of this area is probably only 10%. Is that right? No. But it is human nature. If you are a LAW abiding citizen you have nothing to worry about.

BARF is a great word, I REALLY like that one ! ;D ;D ;D
I have also noticed a lot of blacks being pulled over in our area here in Iowa also.
Their windshield may be cracked to the point it is ready to fall into the vehicle
One of their headlights or tail lights will be working , but, it's dangling on the end of the wire pointed down at the ground.
The tires are so worn the steel cords are sticking out like the bristles on a REALLY old paint brush.
Three small children STANDING up in the front seat !
The brakes are grinding so bad you can hear their vehicle coming to a stop 2 blocks down the street !
Yeah, they profile em here also.
Just lookin at one of these FINE examples of modern transportation , you just KNOW, deep in your heart ,that they are carrying proof of insurance in the glove box !
RIIIIGHT !!!

Interesting post Rich! I'd like to see posts on just how many politicians on both side of the aisle own businesses that employ illegals and thereby vote for amnesty and refuse to enforce laws. I've read California gals, Pelosi ( with vineyards and wineries) and Feinstein (hotels and restaurants) both advocates for illegals are both involved in this kind of activity and I imagine many others on both sides of the aisle are too. Also read interesting stuff on the income from Pelosi's vineyards about which analysts have written for some reason she makes way too much money for the grapes she has ( perhaps a payoff for supporting illegal labor for the wine industry?). Anyway, there are probably lots of financial reasons in addition to trying to win the Latino vote why our politicians betray the interests of us citizens every day....Mel

John, glad you posted this, I emailed it out a few days ago and even my most Rainbow Hugging relatives in California agree that this is a step in the right direction.
