Greetings Ladies & Gents, how do you load your rotary barrel? Note: media = burnishing agents (soaps), ceramic medium, grit, plastic medium, polish or & thickening agents. Empty rubber barrel weights: Evans (UK) 1.36kg (3lb) size = 0.60kg (1.32lb). Lortone (USA) 1.36kg (3lb) size = 0.50kg (1.12lb). Lortone (USA) 2.72kg (6lb) size = 1.45kg (3.19lb). I too don't quite understand the question or too many answers apply to the way I do things. It depends on the stage and what I'm working with - so a blanket answer isn't really appropriate. I don't really care about weight, as much as I do volume because it's volume that produces a good tumble, not weight. I've found that 2/3 with rocks, water and media is usually close enough weight-wise, and typically a bit over, but my tumblers seem to be able to take it.
