Went collecting at Moose Mountain today with Frank. Got the biggest agates I have ever found!! The largest is about 45 lbs. Sorry about the picture quality, had no camera at the cabin so I used a web cam.

They look pretty cool to me Scott! I am looking forward to the slab shots you get from these! Fran

They will all need a few good whacks before I can slab anything. They are a touch big for my 10" saw. Have to get them home too, once we pack up to go home there won't be room for all of them in the van.

It seems a crime to take a hammer to such lovely agates! Why not locate a friend with a bigger saw who can cut them in half for you, that way you could probably slab them in a 10" saw. Hammering will only cause severe internal cracking that will result in a pile of junk if and when you attempt to slab them. Good luck Jim

Thats the one problem with living in Saskatchewan Jim. The only reason we even have a rock club in my city is because I started one here. Most of the club is still just buying tumblers. I do have a friend about 3hrs from here (Brent) that I might get to slice the nicest ones though. He has a 16". On the good side of things in Saskatchewan if you find a spot to collect it probably has not been collected before. I have been thinking about building a bigger saw for stuff like this too.

Id be happy to cut them for you. I've been thinking of converting my saw to an 18" saw.
