Here is a batch a few months in the making. I read how long it takes others to get their stones to get rounded so I decided to get an 8" 40 Grit wheel to speed up the process. It will take off a lot of material fast and you can control the shape. After rounding them with the wheel they went through 3 sets of 60 - 90, then 7 to 10 days in 220, 500, pre-polish and AO polish. I use a separate barrel for each stage and gradually increase the amount of plastic media towards the end. I did one day of burnishing in ivory snow between the last two stages and one+ days after the polish. Hope you enjoy looking! Karock Here is the gnarly wheel. Grinding off the edges and rounding. Starting the tumble Strainging and rinsing OOPS! Australian Lace Results My Fav A crystalized end This one was sweet but my son dropped it and - CRACK! A stray Laker I think Some kind of Jasper from Munds Park, AZ White/Gray Chalcedony - some call it Ivorite Apache Jasper and one stray

Nice work. I like that rounded look, but I'm not sure if I have the patience to do so many of them on my large barrel. After seeing how yours came out, I think it's more than worth it.

Great batch--I especially appreciate the close ups--the payoff in all your work is quite obvious in those photos. Yes, I'm convinced that the extra effort is well worth it in the end results after seeing them!

Great batches. I'd never seen that lace or the Apache jasper before. I like 'em. Is the grinding wheel silicone carbide? I bet it really rips the hide off some of them rocks.

Thanks, the wheel is 40 Grit diamond. I ordered it from a website I heard about from Ralph of Stonesthatrock (imports from China). It is really gnarley and yes it rips and is unforgiving on knuckles when new (careful). Some of the material I work with is stuff I collect and is odd shaped.
So I "rescue" what might be there by grinding off the cracks and matrix. It is a habbit I started before I discovered this site. When I get my Genie then I will be more determined to stick with traditional slabs and preforms and be more selective. Karock
