... at least according to my standards Hi everyone, it's been quite a while since I wasn't on the river bed to search rocks, but yesterday was a beautiful day and I decided to take a short trip, 40 miles out of town, to go there. And it was a good decision, I didn't return empty-handed, as you will see. But firstly, some scenery. The river: A bridge across the river, damaged by a flood some 10 years ago. You can also see the "temporary" bridge behind. But as always, "what's meant to be temporary, it will last for good" The riverbed - "isles" of rocks in a "sea" of sand": A lush swamp; there were also some wild ducks there, which took flight when i passed by. I didn't catch them on camera... ... but I "caught" this pheasant: And now the rocks. That's how I found one of my favorite pet woods in the batch: And here's the whole batch, brought home and inspected by my cat: As you see there are four pet woods in this batch, not bad at all for this river. And in the low right corner in the pic there's a round agate, resembling to a bubble gum. It's the first agate I find on this river, so it's really special. I also like the jasper next to the pencil and the beige/brown spotted flint. This sort of rock is HARD, almost impossible to cut. Thank you for looking, Adrian

Thanks for posting these Adrian, its great to be able to travel with you. Interesting story about the bridge, looks like that temporary bridge is much lower and would be more susceptible to flood damage. I didn't know you had pheasants there, I take it they are not native. Looks like you found some nice wood.

Thank you everyone. Tony, you're right, the temporary bridge is lower, but it seems there was no major flood on this river since the one which damaged the main bridge. About pheasants, they are wild birds here but dunno if they were brought here sometimes in the past or if they're native. Fran, my kitty always does check the quality of my batches Adrian
