Well, I didn't think I'd ever do another batch again but after some prodding from the wife and kids, I finally finished one. Here is a wide assortment, comprised mostly of local Utah finds, as well as a few gifts from my friends here at RTH...mostly KD. This batch took me about 3 months to complete in the vibe. 2 months 120/200. 2 weeks 500. 1 week AO and burnish. It was weird having the vibe going non-stop again! These first 3 are just a hodge-podge mixture of items. A few notables are some Bots, Coprolites, petrified wood, lace, and a bunch of local finds. Next is a batch of fun Utah chalcedony A cool batch of "red stuff" from KD...it tumbled out great...glad I have a bunch more. Some awesome local agates, but the soft matrix drove me batty A collage of yellow Arizona wood, some coprolites (left) and in the center are some famous Dugway geode pieces. Sectioned out Finally, some beautiful local chocolate agates. Very hard and takes a great shine. Well, it was a fun getting another batch done. Here's to more ahead. Gaetz

Gee Gaetz, that is a nice assortment that you have there, & they all shined up beautifully! I'm glad to see you back at it. It took me about 40 years to jump back in, trying to get one finished. Looks like you haven't lost your touch! Will be looking forward to your next batch.

Super nice stuff. Haven't seen any from you in a while. What made you stop? By the way, are you still into RVing? That's where you and I met remember?

Condor-
I quit because I just got burned out. I bought a dual-rotary 6lber and that frustrated me to no end. I love the vibe and am most comforatble with it. I'm gonna sell the Lortone and get me a dual vibe. Anyways, I collected tons of stuff locally and then just burned out. I took most of my stuff back to the desert and dumped it back where I found it.
We're still camping quite frequently and like to go out looking for dinosaurs. Finding lots of them but the state paleontologists keep telling us to keep looking for more. One of these days we'll make our big discovery. Hope you are well!
Thanks for the compliments guys!

Nice batch, love the reds and Chalcedony can be fun with all of the shades. Did you change the grit in the two months of 120/220? karock

karock-
Yep, I changed the grit every 2 to 3 days. When changing, I don't completely rinse the bowl and the rocks because I like to leave a little of the residual there as it helps the new grit stick and start working faster.

Great batch of tumbles there Gaetz!! I'm in the same boat too - working on my first batch in amost 2 years, and like you I got burned out. My son inherited a "toy" tumbler, and I couldn't resist helping him run through a batch - might have to blow the dust off my big ones and have a go at it again myself.

Mel-
I wish I new exactly what it is called. It almost has a texture like obsidian but has agatized veins running throughout as well as "painted stains" on it. Weird stuff..... I collected quite a bit of it and am very happy how it turned out. Maybe I'll post some better picts in the ID section and see what others think.
