I haven't figured out what dino bone looks like in the rough. I looked at some rock shops, but all were different. I was concentrating on so many other things. I really wanted to find some dino bone as I just love it. I found out my sister loves fossils, so was hoping to find some and make her a few pendants. We are going back in late October, so doing more research on knowing what to look for! When does it start snowing t here? The wrecks we saw were an 18 wheeler completely burned to the frame. Then the one that happened right in front of us was a female rider got hit by a car. The 3 rd one we never saw the accident, we were going west and the east bound was shut down. I hate to hear some did lose their lives. That is truly sad. I did talk to some riders where some guys in a truck maced a batch of riders. None of them wrecked thankfully but did have to pull over. What jerks! Sandy

Hey Sandy, I'll post a pic on here tomorrow of the piece I picked up at Railroad Buttes. It will give you an idea of what to look for. I had a bunch of small pieces, but left then behind when I found a larger piece. Late October could be kind of iffy. Last year we had our first snow on Oct. 9th. But if it doesn't snow by then, at least you should have cool weather to hunt in. A friend sent me pics this morning of a beautiful 3lb. Fairburn that was found at the Cheyene River yesterday. That one will be worth several thousand dollars. The Cheyene, across from Red Shirt is a good place for marine fossils and agates. Don

Wow......that would be cool to find a fairburn that size. I'd hate to sell it, but if you're hurting for money or just could use some, then it would be tempting. If I had found any small ones, would've kept one for me, then probably would've traded for something.....dunno. Pics would be great. I'm trying to do as much research as I can before we go back. I didn't realize you got snow that early up there! Sandy

Still no pic of the dino bone. I don't have the right lighting indoors for good pics. I was going to try in sunlight today, but the wind was howling. Almost blew my tripod and camera over. I'll try again tomorrow. If I found a Fairburn that big, and was hurting for money, I'd have to sell my big saw and keep the Fairburn. Something that size is a once in a lifetime find. Don

You don't have to go through all that trouble! Me and my camera never have gotten along when it comes to taking pics of the rocks. I never could get the white balance right. Thank you for trying. As soon as I find my camera, will start taking pics of some slabs I've been cutting and hopefully figure out what I've found.

Hold off on your next trip until next June, and I'll show you what thi dino bone looks like. There are small pieces laying all over the place. Most are big enough to get a cab out of, if that's what a person wanted to do with them. Myself, I just think it's cool to have a piece of something that was alive millions of years ago. Don
