here are some pictures of my longest single batch of rocks
when i started , i had no real idea , how challenging this would be
i have done Laker slices that i have cut , they were much easier to finish .
here are my notes:
11-19-09 in 3-lb barrel with 3T (TBSP) 60-90grit
for 19 days
11-28-09 filled barrel with more Lakers and decided to go with
4T of 46-70 grit for on longer run 25 days ( at the end the 46-70 was not completely broken down
12-23-10 4T of 60-90for 14 days
NOTE : SOME OF THESE LONGER RUNS WERE NOT PLANNED
THEY HAPPENED BECAUSE OF ME BEING BUSY WITH WORK &FAMILY
1-9-10 i did not rinse - ijust added 4T 60-90gr after looking at a few samples or stones
1-30-10 added some small rough rock chips to help with grind and 2T 46-70 & 2T 60-90
2-26-10 rinsed and added 3T 60-90gr
3-20-10 the Lakers were still very pitted , for as long as they have been rolling so i planned for another long run
in 3T 46-70
4-23-10 i finally saw the result that i wanted - most were very smooth , just a few with small pits ( but i had waited long enough ) i removed the small filler -- i let run in a soap burnish for a few hours . then i decided to add some pre tumbled smooth rocks as filler and added 3T 500 gr silicone
5-2-10 let run in soap several hours & added 3T 1000 AO plus plastic filler
5-12-10 washed in soap in soap added 3T AO polish & new plastic pellets
5-21=10 ------------------ DONE !!!!
the before picture is NOT the actual rocks , but from same lot that i bought from Ebay . but , they were all very similar in texture
here are the pixs ::
sorry i did not take progress pictures
finished !!
the filler
thanks for looking !!
