Well, as many of you know my family and I have been through some really trying times lately, but we've bounced back and while everything isn't rosey, it sure seems to be heading that way.
First, we ended up in a nice house right on the water, my own dock so didn't have to worry about where to put the boat. Now, my wife's Aspen lease was coming up in two weeks and there was absolutely no way a bank was going to loan us any money, not after our credit fallout and getting our last house foreclosed on. At least, I figured there was no way, and we'd end up short one vehicle. Not good, when we have two daughters, one with multiple handicaps, both go to two separate schools way far apart from one another. No bus to the older daughter's school and I can't see strapping my younger daughter into a bus for over 2 hours, which is how long the school is saying her ride would be. That would be tantamount to torture for a child with sight and hearing deficits.
So, figured I'd give a friend of mine a call, thinking there was no way he could help me. I guess I owe him an apology, because he really hooked us up. When he said, "Come on down, I'll put you in what ever car you want", I just said, "yeah, right...". Little did I know...
This person is Jack Salzman, he owns Lake Norman Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge. He's sold me my last 5 vehicles and I've known him for years. He sponsors some of our car shows (I have a show PT Cruiser convertible), and he's an all around nice guy. Well, he's good to his word, he got me out of the end of that lease, got us $1500 back on the Aspen, and got us into a fully loaded Chrysler Town & Country Limited. I mean it has everything. It rides like a Cadillac, and has more toys than I could imagine. Oh, also, 80k mile bumper to bumper warranty! Towing, rental car coverage, etc. Just amazing. Oh, and guess what, FREE MAINTENANCE FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR! Yes, oil, filters, etc.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even came with a tire warranty!
So, Jack not only got me a mini-van for my wife (I've asked her for years to get one and finally she caved), but we got one with all the bells and whistles, and with a lower car payment, better gas mileage, and our insurance even went down. Un-be- lievable! Anyway, just wanted to publicly say my thanks to Jack. If you're ever in North Carolina, near Charlotte, and find yourself needing a new or used vehicle, stop in and say hi to Jack at Lake Norman CJD!!! They are the best!
I'm sitting there, really just totally blown away, when the finance manager, Amanda (who must be the hottest finance manager on the planet!), gets up and closes her office door, then sits back down and looks at my wife and I and says, "I've been back through your last 5 purchases from Jack, and I want to let you know something that he's not told you. He's not made one penny on any of your vehicles. He's actually losing money on this deal. The only reason I'm telling you is because I never want to work for any other person for the rest of my life. Jack is in a league of his own, a truly nice guy with a big heart. He must really like you.".
Jeesh, talk about getting choked up. Jack knew about my own personal situation, our financial woes, and I just can't believe that there's a person out there like that who would take a hit like this just to get me in a new car. Just unbelievable. Now I post this here because so many of you have been so supportive and so kind to me, and I just wanted to share my story with you.
I hope the sun shines on all your rock piles, the water flows clear on your cabbing wheels, and that every rock you turn over becomes a keeper!
Pics of my new ride:
Power everything - door openers, remote start, etc. Memory seats, all 4 bucket seats are adjustable and are heated. Third row reclines too.
"Swivel 'N Go" captain's seating, excellent for my younger daughter...
2nd and 3rd row seats have their own 10" DVD players with wireless headphones...
Dual climate control, now she can quit complaining that it's too cold!
Sirius satellite radio free for first year, along with satellite TV!!!!
Very nice analog gauges...
4 litre V6, 16 city, 25 hwy estimated...we'll see...
Backup camera, backup sensors, mobile gas/break shuttle (great since I'm 6'2" and my wife's 4'11"), dual DVD players, Stereo has a 60gig hard disk so you can store your favorite mp3's, movies, or photographs. Auto-dimming rear view AND side view mirrors (never seen side view mirrors that dim before). Removable table for the back for the kids. I mean this thing has EVERYTHING.
I put down $12500, plus the $1500 he got us on the Aspen, and our payments are only $403/month. That's $263/month less than what we were paying on the Aspen. How on earth did I fall into this, and do I deserve such a great deal? Well, maybe not but I'm taking it, smiling, and thanking the Lord for my good luck.
