Halysite (Bead Chain Coral). We have never seen anything like this. Something new each day. Where does it come from? You did a great job on the polish, lots of shine. Halysite (Bead Chain Coral) learn something new every day. Debby & Tom

Debby & Tom: It's an extinct form of coral. It lived in the late Paleozoic, Silurian period, 400-500 millions years ago. I found this fossil in Duluth, MN, but I think it can be found in many other places. Now that I've done a little checking, I don't think they're nearly as old as the Mary Ellen Jasper (Stromatolite)

Excellent material!
Love the pattern.
Just one thing - if it had been found in my garden I'm sure it would have been called 'Snail Track Rock'.
Cool stuff! Hope you find more!

I can't add much to what has been already said--except to say that most of the already-expressed thoughts when through my mind. It really is interesting, and beautiful, stuff.
