Anyone know what these are, i'm thinking a petrified palm wood of some kind. ty mary ann

Wow, that is cool rock. So, would that be a type of puddingstone? Can't wait to see it polished.
Mary Ann, you will get more work with some sugar. Time to break out the sexy lingerie?

Wow that first one is strange. Looks almost like a hematite rich jasper matrix with a conglomerate of little geodes. The second one is what we called palm bog back in California. Basically petrified sediment with little rootlets running through it. Lots of it just like that by the Yermo city dumpsite....Mel

I'd say the polkadot stuff is possibly potassium-rich amygdaloidal basalt. could be wrong about the potasium, but high K seems to make things bright orange/red/pink. Our amygdaloidal basalt here in Vermont has more epidote/greens, less potasium. It looks sweet. I'm not sure about the other stuff though.

As "rcok" suggested, your polka-dot rock looks like a common occurence along the Bay of Fundy. We have soft amygdaloidal bassalt that is peppered with zeolites. Chances are the centres that may look like quartz are really soft. They may be stilbite, heulandite, etc. Even the amygdaloidal basalt is soft. Beautiful to look at, but only as an interewstong sample.
