Nothing impressive yet, but I've wanted a bigger saw for years. We took the money we made at the rock show instead of using it for gas money to go to New Mexico this weekend and bought a rock saw. It's a 14 inch gravity fed one. It didn't take long and I started cutting slabs. I have some more slabs already cut and will try to get those pictures tomorrow, but had to show my first ones. Now we have ZERO excuses to not be knocking out more cabs. First one, looked like mozarkite from the outside, but after cutting, not sure. I'm still learning the saw, using light mineral oil and I think it got a bit hot in this 90 plus degree weather (its in the shade) and my little slab broke. Mohagony Obisidian I'll try to post the pet wood and Morison Ranch agate tomorrow

I was reading on that, I keep wondering if water would keep it cooler, especially with this heat we are getting. Definitely cheaper than mineral oil. The blade is warm after it cuts agate, not hot, but warm.

Maybe that slab was just showing you where a weak spot was. That way, when you are doing a cab, you won't have to worry about the late grind cracks showing up. Slabs look great and I know you are going to have fun with a big saw now! Fran

so that is what you got with all my money ! ;D -- glad you were able to spend it you didn't say --- is it a drop saw or enclosed with a weighted system ? --- if it's open , I'd say to switch over to water just so it doesn't spray oil all over--- don't think there is enough heat difference to really matter --- it's more as to how hard the rock is and how long it takes to cut it as too how hot it will get -- of course you are prob grabbing those little slabs as they are falling ------ the one that broke prob had a slight fracture in it before ---------- let's see how long it takes before a "20" is wanted ;D

Yep, thats where your money went! Its similar to the one the guy had at the show, but much better shape. It has a lid and is a weighted system. I already have a few rocks here I'm trying to figure out how I"m going to cut, one large biggs jasper! I looooooove my saw!
