I went to an auction yesterday which had a rock collection as one of the items up for bids. I scored some choice rock for little cash! See my post in the general rocks board for the details. Here's some better pix of some of the haul. If I have these incorrectly ID'd, please let me know! Rhyolite Montana agate A few slabs were in there some of the nicer ones - they all look good! Labradorite A slab of coral Some beautiful agates - I'd love it if someone could tell me where these are from. Now a few I'm not sure about. I thought maybe this was Rhodonite, but now I think maybe just lacy agate or maybe onyx? A nail will not scratch it. I have no clue what this is. I tried to capture the sheen on the rough outside. A nail does scratch it. It's more of a layered / fiberous looking stone, and darker inside. There's a lot more moss, plume, lakers, and I think a few prarie agates. Pet wood, and maybe some hematite in there too. Thanks for looking! Nate

Nate,
Great haul!
Those agates I'd wager are Botswana's. Nice find. If my memory serves me right, they're no longer exported from Africa in rough condition.

Thanks everyone! I've been digging through it all week to take little pieces to work for show and tell, and more awesome finds keep turning up. There's some sweet mosses in there, as well as a few pieces of what I think are brazilian agates. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try to get more time dedicated to the haul and get more pix for y'all to see.

I've been so busy all week I really haven't had time to dig through it any more. I do look at the buckets every time I walk past though... I'm not too busy till this afternoon. Maybe after lunch I'll get out there and get a few more pix.
