A friend of a friend of a friend in Tucson, AZ, sent me a couple of turquoise hearts to try to make bangles for a Pandora style bracelet. I do a lot of that kind of jewelry. The photo showed me they were about the size of a dime, but what I got is more just about the size of a quarter instead, so no go as a dangle for a bracelet. So, I drilled the tops, got some findings and glued in, then mated with sterling silver french hooks. Since she said she made hundreds of the hearts, I bought 100 and started making earring sets. Before I get 50 sets made I wanted advice or opinions on this - are they nice enough to sell as earrings or should I rethink the use? I've given about a dozen pairs away to friends of my daughter and I see them wearing them all the time now, so maybe. I just wanted some more mature opinions than just a bunch of 13 year olds. What do you think??

I suppose I'm more mature than a 13 year old.. so I'll offer an opinion. I don't particularly like the larger earrings but I'm sure a lot of women do. You could also make pendants with them or even make sets of earrings and a pendant. They look nice and sound like they are a hit with the younger crowd.

I would agree that it is worth making several sets and trying it out. Are they really turquoise or are they dyed howlite? Just wondering because I find it hard to get a good larger piece of turquoise with those markings without going broke. Either way, they are beautiful! Try several necklaces too and I bet you will have takers of the whole sets as well as just earrings! Fran

I like them! It's a nice clean, bright look. I agree with Fran though, you just might want to verify that they are turquoise & not dyed howlite. Wouldn't mind having a pair for myself! Donnie

I am going to be honest, I am not a heart fan, I have a few special hearts from people that they made for me that I wear, but it would not be a shape I picked myself. Turquoise however is the 2010 bead color of the year, so it is a popular material and younger people love hearts. I will say they are tastefully done earrings. I too would verify that it is turqoise, we even got dupped in Tuscon this year buying it.

It looks like you already have successful test marketing results. I have a 16 yr old who would wear those earrings.
This is just a thought as I don't know what you would need to charge in order to make a resonable profit but since those teens obviously like them, you might ask the parents of those teens what they think.
I know from experience that when my daughter came across something she really loved or had to have, if it was resonably priced, I would buy it for an upcoming birthday or Christmas present or work out chores for her to do to pay it off. I also watched what she liked as an indicator for what I should buy for her friends and or teen family members as birthday gifts.
Imho, teens are a great group to market to.
