I have a UV-10 vibratory tumbler with an extra barrel dedicated to polish. Amid a million things going on at once today, I loaded my prepolish load into my polish barre and ran itl, even though I have marked the polish barrel clearly with a marker. Talk about a space cadet! Anyway, do I have to get another barrel for polishing (expensive) or do you think I can still use the barrel once I have scrubbed it out very thorougly? Needless to say, I am quite peeved with myself for this lapse. Thanks in advance. Craig

Craig,
Give it a good cleaning and it should be fine. It's not like running a coarse grit in it.

Hi Craig, NO problem at all After washing and running a 24 hour burnish/ wash run(in my rough barrel) I always run a pre polish (48hrs in1000 grit SC ) in my Vibe polishing barrel as I run Conrocks recepie that just adds Tripoli then polish to the rocks/grit in it and get fantastic results Here's a link to the proof , with a few local beach rocks img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/john-edward/MaypolishVG015.jpgJack Yorkshire uk Ps Remember that grit breaks down in 12 hrs and continues to do so

I tumbled for years without a dedicated barrel and still d on occasion. I rarely had a problem.

I have a vibratory tumbler - one barrel only. When you run the borax through, how much do you put in - and how much water in ratio to the borax -- very light like with the grits?

Yup, infact depending on your prepolish, you can use it as a polish anyway. I found that tripoli run longer than normal (10 days in a rotary, alter time for a vibe I guess) gives you fine results that look polished. I doubt 1000 grit SiC would do the same thing. Sounds like you are fine with a good cleaning. Steve
