I just joined. I'm a very new at rock polishing but found a nice little shop in Boerne, Texas that recently opened called Boerne Rock Shop.
I was able to buy some extra grit and they seem to have a lot of tumblling rough. They were very nice and the prices seemed very reasonable. It certainly saved me money from having to order stuff on the internet.
Anyway, if live in that area, I recommend them.

Really? They opened it up again? Cool. About a year ago, they closed it up and moved to either Amarillo or Abillene, I forget which. They were the last rock shop in the San Antonio vicinity. Glad to see them open again. Guess I'll have to make a pilgrammage up there one of these days!

It's a great rock shop. I still have a few hundred pounds of various petwood rough that I bought from them when they were getting ready to move a couple of years back. They were selling it for about twenty five cent per pound.

Is that where the Alamo Rock Shop was? They moved to Abilene but folded. I'll have to check it out next time we are that way. Hard to find rock shops anymore. I hope anyone local gives them as much support as possible. It is extremely hard to compete with the cut rate internet only guys.

Their web site says they are at I-10 and Johns Road in Boerne - I'm thinking that might be where the Alamo Rock Shop was originally before they moved into Boerne proper.

Call first. Last I heard they were open Thurs-Sunday or something. They are right off the freeway. Very nice couple and big time into flourescents. Last time I was in San Antone I went with Richard to Texas Lapidaries to check out their close out of lapidary. I would give them a call too. They had a lot of palm wood and other rocks back then.

Stopped in at Boerne RS. Owner says they've been there 4 yrs. Great little shop, great price on grit.
She mentioned a shop in Balmorhea, said it's been there a long time. Didnt have a chance to stop in there, though.

Although it's really not much difference from me going into Austin to Nature's Treasures. I'd sure be happy with a decent source of rough not too far away, even within a 100 miles or so.
