Nice find Daniel. Is the shop a good sized place? I plan to get there sometime this summer.

Nice find Daniel. Is the shop a good sized place? I plan to get there sometime this summer. Nate It is big for a rock shop, although not the size of Richardson's rock ranch or some of the southern CA places. There are near 100 55gal barrels with hundreds of lbs of rock in each barrel. There are 4x4 bins with hundreds of lbs of rock in each bin. There are some piles. There is also the basement with many 1'x1.5' wood boxes with rough, end cuts, saw scraps, nodules. Some of the basement stuff is fairly picked over. The property is smallish, so it is all crammed together. It can be challenging to lift stuff out of barrels to get at lower down stuff because there is nowhere to put it. They also have about 100 flat boxes of quality slabs of named material. It is not convenient like open trays filled with water, but it is there. You also have to take a list around to match up barrels to material, or to know what barrel # to look for for a particular material. The barrels are in very rough numeric order, and the material is often in several non-adjacent barrels (sometimes this represent different shipments/years). There are some bargans and some real finds for someone willing to spend hours highgrading several barrels. But they are not in business to lose money. You will often find deeper discounts at tailgates and pow-wow's - but you can go here whenever you want.

Sounds like a fun place to visit if nothing else. They are who I bought my labradorite rough from last year at a local show. It was good quality, but as you said, the price reflects it.
