Sliced up another rock today. I love this stuff. I want to call it rose quartz, unless somebody can correct me? Thanks for looking! Tom

Hmm. I was pretty sure someone would comment on this, and tell me what it REALLY is, if it's not rose quartz! Inquiring minds want to know ... ;D Tom

Yep, that is what I would say it is. Very nice slices too! Don't leave it in the sun though. It will loose it's color. Fran

Gosh, Fran, I'm glad you said that - I had no idea this stuff would fade out from sunlight. I'll have to be careful, and remember that.
Thanks,
Tom

It could be peach calcite. Drop a drop of vinegaron it and watch for a rea ctiomn- after polishing a spot. Won't do a thing to quartz. It will etch the calcite. I see what look like rhombohedral cleavage planes in this stuff that quartz wouldn't have. Quaetz isn't brittle like calcite and exponentially harder. I've seen calcite this color in veins . Might be aragonite, too.

I think the veins are saw marks from his kinked blade.

Actually, the veins are part of the stone. They are very uniformly distributed throughout. I love the way this stuff looks - it seems to me to be very "feminine", if I can use that word to describe a rock, very delicate looking. I'm hoping I can make cabs that will do it justice.
