Can't go wrong with Highland Park equipment. They were built to last. You might want to put some sort of shield over the motor, to keep the rock snot out of it.

Nice HP. By the way, I've had quite a few old oil saws over the years and as long as you don't overfill you shouldn't throw any oil on the motor.

Thanks, John. I have been using baby oil which vaporizes very easily. I may switch to tractor transmission oil. I don't think it will smell as good or be as nice to my skin, but the viscosity should be a little higher. Maybe mix the two?....zip

That's a nice looking saw. Got my eyes open for an affordable 10".

those saws will never sling anything backwards on the motor, always to the front and then some if you put to much liqiud in it,lol
I`m telling ya, for a 10 inch all you need is water. I run mine daily and thats all I have ever used and all my freinds down here ever use.t we just drain it after each use.

JC, I think I understand the practicality of the advice you are offering about using water instead of oil in my saw. At my age and level of expertice, daily draining and cleaning of the blade to avoid rust just seems like too much work! The expense of using mineral oil just seems the logical choice for me. I'll bet that you will side with my wife when she accuses me of having more money than brains ...lol! zip
